Decrap – Remove Crapware/Bloatware with Ease [ GUIDE ]

Decrap
Decrap is a freeware, lightweight and easy to use tool that lets you safely remove crapware and bloatware, or any software, from your Windows PC.
Decrap allows you to easily and safely remove all of the bloatware that comes pre-installed by the manufacturer on a new Windows PC.
It can take hours or even days to get all the pre-installed software removed from your new computer, but with this little freeware utility you can completely uninstall all the unneeded software without any user input!
Pre-installed bloatware like this is often deeply integrated into the Windows operating system. Trying to remove it by simply deleting the installation folders not only means you may not get rid of it all, but can also result in other important programs not functioning properly.
The software is not only for new computers, you can use it to uninstall software from any older computers too! And oh, it’s free for personal and commercial use.

What is bloatware?
Bloatware, also known as crapware, is unwanted computer software that makes your Windows PC run slow and sluggish. Nowdays, most brand new computers ship with a wide array of pre-installed software, most of which is often considered by many users as bloatware or crapware. While some of these programs can actually be quite handy, most are not, and they can be difficult to fully uninstall.
Features
  • Remove Asus Bloatware
Many people think that some of the software that comes preloaded on a new Asus PC or laptop is crapware. For example, most advanced users may want to uninstall ASUS Tutor, ASUS LifeFrame3, ASUS WebStorage and ASUSVibe. This can be done easily with Decrap my Computer.
  • Remove HP Bloatware
Like Asus, HP computers often come preloaded with software from the factory. Some users consider this software to be crapware or bloatware and would prefer to remove it. For example, some users want to uninstall HP Customer Service enhancements, HP Update, HP Total Care Setup and ProtectSmart.
  • Remove Dell Bloatware
Some people who buy Dell PC soon discover that there are several preloaded software that many adwanced users feel are not needed. Some users may want to uninstall Dell Stage, Dell Digital Delivery and Dell DataSafe, just to mention a few examples.
  • Remove Toshiba Bloatware
Some owners of Toshiba computers and notebooks are concerned that their PC might contain bloatware in the form of the pre-loaded software from Toshiba. Some of this software includes Toshiba Disc Creator, Toshiba ReelTime, Service Station, Bulletin Board and Toshiba Assist. All these can be easily uninstalled with Decrap my Computer.
  • Unattended uninstall of multiple programs
Decrap my Computer can uninstall many software in a row 100% unattended. All you need to do is to select what to remove, and Decrap will launch the softwares’ uninstallers and automatically click their buttons to run them. After the softwares’ own uninstallers have been executed, Decrap will use its own uninstallation engine to make sure nothing is left behind from the uninstalled software!
How to use it?
  1. Download Decrap (from the link provided) to your desktop and run it.
  2. Once it’s scan all the files it will give you two choices: Fully automatic mode, means that the application will automatically decide which application to remove. But I will not recommend this because no matter how intelligent the software is it’s not recommend to let the program decide what to do without users input. So leave the option unchecked, select Manual and click next to see the list of applications installed.
  3. From the list, you can decided which one can stay and which one to remove. Once you’re done click Next and proceed. Remember not to select any Windows-based software. If you are not sure, then Google for it to find out. Once you click Next, the application will prompt you to create a System Restore point. So be sure to select the option as I will not recommend you to continue further without creating one.
  4. Finally, you have the Registry Cleaning option to clean residual registry entries. JV16 is a popular Windows optimizer, and I suppose they are using the same registry cleaner – so I suppose it must be safe. But I never trust registry cleaners, so if I were you I would not choose this option. But again it’s depends on the user.
  5. Once you click Next it will start removing the application and reboot the system when done.
Screenshots

Warning: As you can see on the screenshot above, it is not recommended to run the program in automatic mode. While it covers some programs and files that may not be needed anymore on the system, it is also listing others for removal that you may still need on your system. It is highly suggested to run the program in manual mode to avoid any issues caused by the removal of files.
See how it works?
This video shows Decrap my Computer removes all the pre-installed software of a brand new Acer Aspire V3 laptop. Notice that after the final confirmation box has been closed, there is zero user input, all the uninstallers are automatically run by the Decrap program!
So, what’s the catch?
Yeah, we know, usually when something is given away for free, it’s not always all that good. It’s either low quality or comes with some nasty surprises like spyware. But Decrap my Computer doesn’t.
We have a valid reason for giving away Decrap as freeware: Decrap is based on the award-winning jv16 PowerTools Windows utility suite. So if you think Decrap is cool, you may want to check out our commercial product jv16 PowerTools as well. Other than this humble suggestion to check out our commercial product, there is no catch.
